This is a somewhat basic tutorial on how I achieve a pastel bright effect in my icons. This technique looks good with shows like 'The Untamed' that has a lot of blues and other pastels. The two main things I use are 'saturation' and 'luminosity' on layers.

Hello, guys! On Dreamwidth at icontalking we're having an 'Ask the maker' activity this month and a guide on getting the icon below has been requested. Please know that although there are many and other sophisticated ways of creating icons, the methods I use are very basic & work for me on photoshop CS2.lol,yes,old app,I know. :D

Hey, guys!!I've never done a tutorial before so I hope I can get the idea across and it's not too difficult. Of course there are many ways people do fake BG+text and I personally use the Pen tool since it's easiest for me.But I was thinking of a way without the pen tool and I guess, the easiest way and hopefully the first one is just that. There are gifs for some parts to make it easier.
These are for photoshop,I use a very old (CS2,lol) version but it should work for any version.Perhaps GIMP too but I'll have to try that out before I can say it with surety.
Concrit is welcome and please ask any questions if you have. :D
