I can't believe I'm typing this, I'm so overwhelmed with joy and hope! Our PM Sheikh Hasina has finally stepped down and fled the country. Currently rumours say she's in India, heading to Belarus soon as she is scared for her safety.
After 15 years of killing people and almost dictatorship, having her run away like the coward she is, is the perfect outcome!

Never have I been so proud of the gen-Z for leading such a revolution. They did what none of us had the power to do. It started out as a student protest which the PM herself caused to turn into mass killings and torturing of students & anybody who sided with them.

Barely a month & it finally happened. All it took was the Army to refuse the Prime Minister's order to shoot people on sight, tens and thousands of people putting the collective well being of everyone over themselves & unite as one for this to happen.

Many lives were lost and today is the second time Bangladesh has received Victory against the government. What a few weeks we've had! The tension, the worrying for family back in our country.

Hasina said those who were engaging in the “sabotage” and the destruction in the name of protests were no longer students, but criminals, and that “iron hands” should be used to deal with them.-Al Jazeera

Just to give a recap of what had gone down from mid-July:
  • Internet was shut down for 6 days. Mobile data was restored after 11 days.
  • Phone communication was down for many days.
  • Electricity was cut off in many areas.
  • Curfew was imposed & the army were out on the streets to control the riots.
  • Police & Student league took people out of their houses forcefully & beat them up. Some people have gone missing from what I've heard.
  • Police forced their way in to check people's phones for most likely to see if it contained any video footage of the unrest or if they were somehow spreading 'misinformation'.
  • Many students were shot and beaten up to death.
  • The government blamed their opposing parties being the mastermind behind the protest and for 'riling up' the young generation against them.
  • Sheikh Hasina said the doors to her residence are open and she wants to talk with the protestors.
  • Protestors refused and demanded Sheikh Hasina to step down as PM.
  • Mass march to Dhaka took place in defiance of the curfew on 3rd-4th August by people from many other cities to storm the PM's residence.
  • Many of the big leaders have fled the country as everyone suspected they would do.
  • Sheikh Hasina and her sister Rehana have fled the country.
This will probably be my last post about this. I don't know what's in store for our country but I hope we get new and good people this time around, that the interim government bring justice to the families of all the murdered young people and not end up being worse.

As of now people are showering the Army with flowers and good words for siding with the people and not the government.

Peace out! I'm gonna go eat some good food and celebrate! :D
