Nov. 17th, 2022 11:33 pmThe Eclipse-A Thai BL drama.
Summary:The country's leading all-boys school, Suppalo, is strictly governed. Rumour has it that a curse will punish students who act out, a curse that grows stronger as the solar eclipse nears.
A group of students calling themselves “The World Remembers” unite to challenge the school's authority and demand their rights. Head student prefect Akk and his cohorts are tasked with dissuading the rebel group. Then Ayan, a mysterious new student, arrives. Akk is suspicious of Ayan, this boy whose behaviour is so odd and who regularly challenges the school's norms.
Ayan has enrolled in hopes of discovering the person who pushed his uncle Dika to suicide. His only evidence leading him to Suppalo School is in his uncle's old notebook. Ayan's method of dealing with Akk's scrutiny is to toy with him.
See, I don't recommend a lot of Thai dramas even though story and plot wise there are many fantastic ones out there. It's just that the language takes a lot of time for me to adjust to. It's easier to watch Korean or Japanese dramas so I usually stick to those and for Thai dramas, if the first episode doesn't grab me...I usually drop it or leave it for another time. /o\
Which is why this show deserves a post. I AM HOOKED! Sure, the cast is good looking and the overall show is very dramatic as compared to K-dramas or J-dramas with the soundtrack ( kind of reminds me of Indian dramas but not in that overly dramatic way!). It's the chemistry between the leads, the actual issues that students have with their school system- a very old style dictatorial head, not allowed to share their thoughts if it opposes the 'adults'/teachers and the like & the mystery of what happened to the teacher who supposedly 'quit' the school.
Plus the whole prefect & the rule-breaking student getting together?! *chef's kiss* Absolutely one of my favourite high school trope!! Currently I'm on episode 3 and watching it here:The Eclipse
