15 BL couple icons for Round 9 @ somein30



AAAHHHH!!Yes,I've been working on this set for a while. I was so excited when I saw the inspo for this round at [livejournal.com profile] somein30.
For my x-axis I went from a muted to vibrant colouring(I don't know how to make the last column more vibrant without it turning ugly. T_T). For the y-axis I chose to show the proximity of the characters.I always love watching that progress and relationship development from near strangers or enemies to trusted friends/partners and then to lovers. :)
Focused on some of my most favourite BL couples.

omg the text work !! im so impress i open the text tool and get sad lol these are so good! i think my favorites are 1 (the crop and coloring), 6 (the fun typography), and 11 (the complexity and blocking!)

Wow, such great work!

I've seen Cherry Magic. I recognise the Guardian guys from my flist. And I have We Best Love on my list because YouTube showed me an ad or a vid or something and it looked good.

Gosh,thank you so much!<3 The vibrant colouring in the last column just worked out so well and I'm glad you like it!:D I originally wanted to do that show with black & white colouring but this just looked nicer!XD I also love doing a close crop of the moment in 1,it's a very sweet moment. T_T

The text placement in all of these is great, especially 1, 6, 8, 11 and 12! I also really like the colors of your vibrant icons, especially the color-blocked one like 14. I also think the proximity concept is kind of unique so that's a really fun thing to work with! I think my faves are 3, 8 and 11!

Hehe!I'm happy to see you liking the idea of proximity. XD It just came to me and I had to run with it!
The colour blocking in 14 was time consuming because I wanted to use violet-orange/yellow and also fill up the space but make it vibrant and interesting!So happy to see you like it!And all the ones you liked with the text placements-so lovely to hear that. :)

Omg I love your axes, the Y axis something I didn't even think of but it's so great for couples icons! Also wow, so much text - great job with all the text work, so many fun and different text arrangments!

I think my top favorite is 11, the pale coloring is exquisite and WOW at the composition! Awesome awesome blocking and text use. 5 is another top favorite, the extra vibrant coloring just works so well. I also love the eye-catching color combination and awesome text use on 14. 9 is fantastic, love the textured background.

The crop and coloring in 1 are amazing, so perfectly muted, the text work is subtle but very effective as decoration. The colors and composition on 12 are incredible as well, I don't know how you did the ~erasing effect on the top image or if the cap was like that but it looks so cool! The pastels in the middle column are super pretty, I especially love 13 with the perfect use of background text - love the font combination.

This is my favorite aspect of shipping relationships in everything I watch/read! :D

Anyway, beautiful set. Nice crop and muted tone in 1, lovely composition in 4, love the overall colors of 13-14-15.

But my absolute favorite is 20. Love the soft pink, muted tones and light texture use!

Also 17 is very cute. Lovely color combination and softness :)

Thank you so much!Somehow I ended up making some really nice simpler icons this round and I almost wanted to keep the ones you mentioned as part of the original set but I'd done the others in the set with text-oh,how I had to spend time choosing!XD THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I was so sure I'd commented on this post already, but I haven't?!

Your axes are amazing! Aalllllll the text work omg. I really love 1, 2, 5 (yay proximity! :D), 10 (the background in the middle level makes it look even more complex than it is :D), and 11, 13, and 15. (Yay I also chose all the vibrant ones :D)

Special mention for 12: the way the text work and composition combine is just Wow!
